New Camera: Focus AFTER the shot...and Export to 3D
Wednesday, 20 April 2011 00:00

The Lytro camera might be - no let me go out here on a limb - will be a game changer.  The shots you take, even those blurry ones, can be brought back into focus.  And Then exported to 3D.

New Camera Lets You Focus After You Shoot

(CNN) -- An auto-focus camera? Not new. Not exciting.

A camera that lets you focus after you've already taken the photo? And lets you focus anywhere within the image you want? That's got people talking and, according to its creator, is the start of "a picture revolution."

Oh yeah -- it can also transfer a regular photo to 3-D.

Video Today: YouTube or Vimeo
Thursday, 07 July 2011 00:00

In today's crazy world, one has to make a choice for video placement in the world with all the various.  YouTube has lots of positive attributes and some negative ones.

Check out this article I found: The Pros and Cons of YouTube Video for Your Website

We All Know that YouTube’s Great for Video Marketing

Let’s be perfectly clear – we’ve been saying at ReelSEO that all businesses should be involved with YouTube for marketing and advertising your video assets. Here are some great reasons why:

  • Largest viewership of any video site, and one of the largest viewerships on the Web. (That’s not about having a professional presentation per se, but it’s about reaching an audience!)
  • Search – YouTube is 2nd largest search engine next to Google, YouTube is owned by Google, and all YouTube videos can be indexed by Google’s own search engine
  • Owned by Google, so all of its videos are indexed into Google’s own search engine.
  • SEO features and opportunities for every video you have, and your video channel.
  • Conversions – you can add a link back to your site in the description section around a video.
  • Social Nature - YouTube is a social giant and makes it easy for sharing, both on all the major social networks and for easy embedding into Websites and blogs.
  • Keyword research – you can do real-time searches for popular keywords to optimize your videos for.
  • Some customization of your video channel design and player

World Cinema: "Life In a Day" - User Generated Content
Tuesday, 21 June 2011 00:00

Ridley Scott sponsored user generated content from around the world to create a film about one day of Life here on planet earth.  The feature film is being released in theaters this week.

Check out the trailer here:   "Life In a Day"

An article talks about the film here with this excerpt.

There’s a telling moment at the end of the credits of the new YouTube documentary, Life in a Day, released in cinemas this week. The penultimate credit reads, “Directed by Kevin Macdonald and”; the final credit has several hundred names – all amateurs who sent in footage to YouTube of what they were up to on July 24, 2010.

Thousands of hours of their footage was edited down to a chronological sweep through the day, and around the world. And the terrifying thing for Hollywood is that the amateur results are far more compelling than a hundred lowest common denominator blockbuster feature films, whether they’re Marvel Comic movies, gross-out films or romcoms – now Hollywood’s staple diet.

Socialist China's Trackers for Hong Kong Cars
Tuesday, 14 June 2011 00:00

Socialist Chinese authorities have been installing devices on Hong Kong dual license plate vehicles to listen to conversations.

For years now Chinese authorities have been installing spying devices on all dual-plate Chinese-Hong Kong vehicles, enabling a vast network of eavesdropping across the archipelago, according to a Hong Kong newspaper.

The report in Apple Daily states that the recording devices began being installed as “inspection and quarantine cards” in July 2007. They were installed without charge by the Shenzhen Inspection and Quarantine Bureau on thousands of vehicles.

Smugglers were the first to note something strange about the devices. A source told Apple Daily that after the cards were installed mainland authorities had no trouble picking off the cars carrying illicit goods.

"Body and Seoul"
by
Michael Mandaville & Robert Lennon
Body & Seoul is a delightful romantic comedy about a music producer, DANTE CRUISE, who becomes a “fish out of water” when he is exiled to Korea to redeem himself and his career.

Dante causes a ruckus in Hollywood when he throws a TV set out of the Ace Records building and smashes a police car.   He must cool his heels out of town – way out of town – so his bosses send him to a far distant land to cultivate new talent – Korea.  Dante’s reaction: “Is that a country?”
