Chinese Military Buildup Directed at U.S. |
|
Monday, 04 May 2009 22:41 |
|
The Chinese military is moving forward with an expanded military, directed at the United States. What a surprise! The U.S. has fought numerous wars in Asia - and the Communist/Left-wing government of China longs to reassert itself as a regional and world power. •China in March unveiled its official military budget for 2009 of $70.24 billion, the latest in nearly two decades of double-digit rises in declared defense spending. •A brief naval clash in March in waters near China underscored that "the absence of a sound relationship between our two militaries is a part of that strategic mistrust," said Jeffrey Bader, senior director for Asian affairs at the National Security Council.

China Wins Economic Warfare Games at Pentagon |
|
Thursday, 09 April 2009 15:24 |
|
China has become an economic powerhouse. Witness the recent questioning of the dollars strength by representatives of the Chinese Socialist Dictatorship and the dollar's shaky response in this global economic crisis. Economics are a part of warfare. During World War II, the Germans tried to counterfeit British five pound notes with limited success in Operation Bernhard. North Korea has counterfeited the dollar in a Supernote with some success. I know an FBI Agent who told me that the Supernote was so good that it initially fooled Treasury Department inspectors until they examined it in detail. China is attempting economic warfare too and the Pentagon is planning for it.
Some interesting points in the article are:
•The two-day event near Ft. Meade, Maryland, had all the earmarks of a regular war game. Participants sat along a V-shaped set of desks beneath an enormous wall of video monitors displaying economic data, according to the accounts of three participants.
•In the end, there was sobering news for the United States – the savviest economic warrior proved to be China, a growing economic power that strengthened its position the most over the course of the war-game. The United States remained the world’s largest economy but significantly degraded its standing in a series of financial skirmishes with Russia, participants said.

Chinese Cyberspies in U.S. Electrical Grid |
|
Wednesday, 08 April 2009 01:59 |
|
Not a surprise if you read my novel, "Stealing Thunder".
WASHINGTON -- Cyberspies have penetrated the U.S. electrical grid and left behind software programs that could be used to disrupt the system, according to current and former national-security officials.
The spies came from China, Russia and other countries, these officials said, and were believed to be on a mission to navigate the U.S. electrical system and its controls. The intruders haven't sought to damage the power grid or other key infrastructure, but officials warned they could try during a crisis or war.
"The Chinese have attempted to map our infrastructure, such as the electrical grid," said a senior intelligence official. "So have the Russians."
The espionage appeared pervasive across the U.S. and doesn't target a particular company or region, said a former Department of Homeland Security official. "There are intrusions, and they are growing," the former official said, referring to electrical systems. "There were a lot last year."
Many of the intrusions were detected not by the companies in charge of the infrastructure but by U.S. intelligence agencies, officials said. Intelligence officials worry about cyber attackers taking control of electrical facilities, a nuclear power plant or financial networks via the Internet.
Authorities investigating the intrusions have found software tools left behind that could be used to destroy infrastructure components, the senior intelligence official said. He added, "If we go to war with them, they will try to turn them on."
Officials said water, sewage and other infrastructure systems also were at risk.

Chinese Improve Naval Weapons on U.S. Carriers |
|
Tuesday, 31 March 2009 17:40 |
|
The Socialist dictatorship of China continues its pursuit of weaponry specifically aimed against American Fleet Carrier power. As I wrote about in "Stealing Thunder", the PLAN (People's Liberation Army Navy) is agressively seeking to push itself from being a coastal force into becoming a genuine blue water navy. In this way, the PLAN can threaten, directly or indirectly, the shipping lanes of democratic nations like Korea and Japan. Report: Chinese Develop Special "Kill Weapon" to Destroy U.S. Aircraft Carriers U. S. Naval Institute March 31, 2009 With tensions already rising due to the Chinese navy becoming more aggressive in asserting its territorial claims in the South China Sea, the U.S. Navy seems to have yet another reason to be deeply concerned. After years of conjecture, details have begun to emerge of a "kill weapon" developed by the Chinese to target and destroy U.S. aircraft carriers. First posted on a Chinese blog viewed as credible by military analysts and then translated by the naval affairs blog Information Dissemination, a recent report provides a description of an anti-ship ballistic missile (ASBM) that can strike carriers and other U.S. vessels at a range of 2000km. The range of the modified Dong Feng 21 missile is significant in that it covers the areas that are likely hot zones for future confrontations between U.S. and Chinese surface forces. The size of the missile enables it to carry a warhead big enough to inflict significant damage on a large vessel, providing the Chinese the capability of destroying a U.S. supercarrier in one strike. |
