*Synopsis*

PROFESSOR NEWTON has a big day: he is struck by Cupid's arrow and discovers that his college, Newton College, is going bankrupt.   Newton's life is forever changed!
RICHARD ARMBRUSTER, a greedy developer, plans to take over the venerated Newton College and sell it off as a real estate development.  He will announces his plans at the school's annual steeplechase race in five days.    The school where Ben Franklin, Thomas Paine and other great Americans taught would disappear.
Newton spots a popular game show, Triviality.  He knows every answer.  An idea hits him!  Newton quickly calculates the potential winnings.  If he answers every question correctly and bets his entire winnings on each Daily Double, he will win over $170 million dollars in five days!   The Catch: If he loses one Daily Double and returns to zero, he's out of the game.
The school is energized by Newton's challenge to Armbruster. In the morning, Newton romances Faith.  Afternoons, he plays on Triviality.  In the evening, he studies facts and figures to keep on winning the game!
The TV producer is elated at her ratings and alarmed at Newton's winnings.  She brings in 'ringers' to stifle his winnings.  The show's sponsor is delighted at Newton's guts.   Rhett Baylor, who fancies himself Faith's jock boyfriend, rivals Newton for her affections.
Armbruster has only one choice.   If Newton buys the school, he will certainly discovers Armbruster's fraudulent manipulation of the school's finances.   Armbruster forces Rhett to kidnap Faith.  Newton must choose between his loyalty to Newton College and his love for Faith. He chooses his love for her! In a daring rescue, he saves Faith, the steeplechase race and Newton College!
And, as the third place winner in the game, he wins...a set of encyclopedias!
